Tuna Wānanga

Fishing for tuna (eel) is an incredibly significant part of the Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō cultural identity. This wānanga will facilitate the transfer of intergenerational cultural knowledge, as well as combining Mātauranga Māori with western science. We will be focusing on the close relationship and history our people share with the Nelson Lakes and tuna. This truly unique wānanga is a key part of our cultural revitalisation strategy and we are so excited to share this kaupapa with you.
