Posted on 20 February 2020

A huge welcome to iwi member Aaron Hemi, who joins the office team as an advisor to support various kaupapa happening under Te Tirohanga Whakamua a Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, the iwi Trust’s Five-Year Plan.

Aaron, pictured with Puhi Ariki, 4, and Ngā Muka, 7, is a father to three with his partner Matariki. From Rātana, where his mum Jessica Hemi and many other whānau reside, Aaron holds a Bachelor of Education from Massey University and has spent the past four years in Nelson working at NMIT as a Māori tutor and then at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Tuia te Matangi.

He says he is proud to be working for Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō. “I feel really lucky – opportunities like this don’t come around every day and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Aaron will work part-time around his studies in IT and will be based in the Nelson office.
